Neighbors on foot and in trucks cleaned out six alleys and streets between 12th Avenue South and Vaulx Lane, filled two dumpsters to the brim, and carried off dozens of old tires and TVs to the city dump.

Neighbors reported that alleys that had been given thorough cleanings in the 2005 Spring and Fall tours were in much better shape this time around. That's a good sign that regular neighborhood clean-ups are having a long-term effect. It appears that trashy alleys attract more trash than clean alleys. Which means every piece of junk we take out of the alley helps deter several more.
