News from the Neighborhood
By David Thompson
Neighborhood Sign
As promised our new neighborhood sign is up at the Ashwood Avenue traffic island. We hope you like it. The sign has already been hit and repaired in less than 30 days. Amazing, but true. This sign is important for a number of reasons:
€ Our partnership with the 12South Merchants’ Association to finalize the
lettering. Thanks to Mike Dolan and crew for their help.
€ We paid for the sign! The neighborhood association had an opportunity to give back and we think the contribution was significant. What other neighborhood projects need funding? Let us know.
€ We did something! It is important for the neighborhood association to show its members and neighbors that we are not an irrelevant band of folks looking to wield power. Actually we really care about the neighborhood and want to pitch in wherever there is a need. Please let us know your needs.
€ More work to be done. The traffic island needs to be landscaped to compliment the sign. Please submit your design plans to dthompson@nealharwell.com so we can complete this project.
More Trees
Ever wonder why we don’t have more trees next to our neighborhood streets? The neighborhood association would like to push for more trees in order to complete the 12South streetscape and for our neighborhood streets. If you would like to pitch in for this effort or
definitely want trees planted between the sidewalk and the street let us know. We will provide additional information at a later time as plans take shape.
Fall Park Celebration.
Want to help us plan a neighborhood celebration in Sevier Park in September? Please let us know who you are, because we need your help.
Metro Council Elections
Don’t forget to vote in the next election. There are many candidates for District 17.
Get Involved with the 12South Neighborhood Association
We have many people who sign up for our newsletters and e-mail listserv who we want to come out and support our efforts with a little elbow grease. Please show your support by pitching in to help with our next project, or even just by picking up a piece of trash in the street. Any-thing you can do to help is greatly appreciated.
